Another Gutless Wimp Of A Democrat

This is the sort of thing that makes me sick...Just a few days ago John Kerry made a speech in which he basically said that students better do well in college or they might get “stuck in Iraq”. It was not intended to be an insult to anyone, just a statement of fact. But the Bush-Rove-Darth Cheney propaganda machine seized upon it immediately, manufacturing an insult (to U.S. troops in Iraq) where there was none. John Kerry, true to Democratic form, took the bait, whimpered, whined and finally crawled to the corner. Bush, Cheney and Rove had themselves a good belly laugh.
Kerry’s original speech (after the Bush propaganda machine went to work) was quite stirring. But then the fight went right out of him...
May I volunteer to teach these pathetic imbeciles how to campaign? One might argue that if Democrats want to put their feet in the air and let Republicans roll right over them, it’s their right. Well, no, it’s not, because right now these jerks are all that stand between us and a Bush-Cheney-Halliburton style “corptatorship”.
When are Democrats going to learn? When are they going to realise that they cannot let Republicans define the debate? Here is what would have been an excerpt from the speech I would have written for Kerry:

“......You know something, ladies and gentlemen? No less a personage than the president of the United States, George Bush himself, has demanded that I apologise for remarks I made the other day....Remarks that were intended to inspire our students to excel...remarks that were never intended to be an insult to anyone... But the president and his advisors, in a desperate attempt to deflect debate from the subject of his catastrophic war in Iraq, have attempted to twist my remarks into an insult to our troops. Folks, why would I want to do that? After all I was a member of the U.S. military, and saw active combat. I can tell first-hand war stories, can he? No, he can’t, because he was never there.
But the president of the United States thinks I owe an apology. What a coincidence... Because I think he owes an apology too...I think he owes an apology to our troops for sending them into a feckless, unwinnable  war and risking their lives for nothing...I think he owes an apology to the almost three thousand families, who have received one of those flag-draped coffins that he won’t let the rest of us see...By the way, how many times has he attended one of those funerals and confronted the result of his actions?
So here’s my challenge to you, Mr. President: Let’s both apologise together. I’ll apologise for my words, you apologise for the actions that have taken the lives of almost 3000 Americans and countless Iraqis. How about it? You name the venue, you name the time, and I’ll be there. I’ll even go first...I’m man enough, are you?....”
But I’ll just dream on, no contemporary Democrat, graduate of the Michael Dukakis School Of Campaigning, could ever muster that kind of guts. Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, but John Kerry has to go to the corner and get Swift Boated.
